Camp Descriptions
All Sports 3-6 year olds
A great way to introduce children aged 3 to 6 to many different sports and activities while making new friends. Sessions take place in a safe structured environment and sports are played through a series of games and activities designed to ensure learning and most importantly fun. All the sports promote hand-eye co-ordination, motor skills, group participation and communication skills.
All Sports 6 and older
This camp focuses on learning skills and making friends. Campers play a variety of games and enjoy many camp activities, which may include soccer, freeze-tag, lacrosse, kickball, football, capture the flag and more.
Baseball / Softball
This camp stresses the basic skills and teamwork necessary to succeed in baseball and softball. The fundamentals, include hitting, pitching, fielding and catching, are emphasized in drills and instruction. Campers have an opportunity to experience each position, develop teamwork and learn game strategies.
Basketball
This clinic offers a solid foundation for all fundamentals and rules of the game. Emphasis will be spent on ball handling, shooting and passing. There will be individual and team competitions through out the week.
Cheering
Learn and practice jumps, motion cheers, chants, and dance routine. Impress family and friends by performing your new moves at the closing ceremonies.
Field Hockey
Campers will be taught all phases of the game, including technical and tactical components in a fun way. Skills covered throughout the week will be: ball control, dribbling, push passes, drives, shooting, stick skills, flicks, lifts, dodging, team tactics (offensive and defensive), and rules of the game. Players will grouped by age, playing ability and experience level.
Floor Hockey
This camp is ideal for children who enjoy playing floor hockey and want to improve their skills in a relaxed and fun environment. The focus of the camp is to improve the individuals technique through games and skill challenges. Safety will be a priority during this camp. Goggles will be provided and worn through out the week. We will also include other types of games and sports to allow them to fully enjoy their time with us.
Football
This is a no pad clinic that offers instruction on all offensive and defensive positions. It also gives you a chance to learn the Double Wing offense that has led to Shepherd Hill becoming one of the premiere football programs in the area.
Lacrosse(Beginners)
This camp will focus on individual skills such as proper catching and throwing techniques, dodging, shooting and individual defense.
Lacrosse(Full Pads)
The morning session will focus on individual skills such as proper catching and throwing techniques, dodging, shooting and individual defense. The afternoon session will emphasize team concepts such as team offense, team defense, fast breaks, transitions, man-up and man-down play.
Soccer
Rules of the game and skills of dribbling, passing, trapping, heading and shooting will be introduced and practiced. Drills, small-sided games and large-sided games will be played to enhance their development.
Junior Soccer
Lead up games and fun competitions will reinforce the skills of dribbling, passing, trapping, heading and shooting. Small sided games will be used to reinforce their new skills.
Tennis
Campers will be divided into groups according to their ability level. Rules of the game and the skills of racket preparation, good strokes, serves, volleys, lobs, overhead swings, single and double play strategies will be taught. Emphasis placed on working the individual skill level needs of each camper. Drills, various lead-up games, activities and fun competitions will be included.
Track and Field
Come and learn what track is all about. Each participant will be instructed in form running, block starts, relay exchanges, shot put, high jump, triple and long jump just to name a few. The last day will include a track meet where the participants will be divided into two teams to compete for fun.
Volleyball
This camp will teach the basic skills and teamwork necessary to succeed in volleyball. Participants will receive coaching and instruction in all volleyball fundamentals and some tactical areas. The skills of passing, spiking, serving and setting will be taught through various drills, lead-up games, activities and game play.
